Trash & Recycling

Garbage and Recycling Update – June 19, 2024

The MUD 501 Board recently completed negotiations with the District’s garbage and recycling provider, Texas Pride Disposal, for a new five-year garbage and recycling contract, which will begin on July 1st.  Due to the substantially escalating costs of garage door collection, the MUD 501 Board made the difficult decision to switch to curbside garbage and recycling collection with the new contract.

Beginning on July 1st, your garbage and recycling will be collected curbside and will not be collected if it is placed in the prior garage door location. Please place trash cans/bags and recycling carts at the curb by 5:30 a.m. on each collection day.

Elderly or disabled residents may contact Texas Pride, at 281-342-8178, or service@texaspridedisposal.com, to request valet garbage and recycling collection, if required. Valet service will include continued collection of garbage and recycling material at the garage door location, visible from the street.

We appreciate your understanding as the MUD 501 Board strives to continue to provide high-quality, cost-effective services to our community.

Garbage Collection Service Guidelines

Curbside Garbage Service
  • Trash Collection Tuesday and Friday. Please have waste curbside by 6:00 A.M.
  • Recycling Collection Tuesday.
Household Trash – CURBSIDE PICKUP BEGINNING JULY 1st
  • Household waste should be placed in personal trash cans between 20 and 96 gallons and under 50 pounds, or sturdy bags not exceeding 50 pounds. Waste should be placed curbside between the street and sidewalk.
Recycle – Curbside Pickup
  • Recyclable materials should be placed loose in your recycling container.  Please do NOT bag your recyclables!  Bagging your recyclables could cause them to be rejected by the recycling facility and instead be handled as household garbage.
Yard Waste – Curbside Pickup
  • Yard waste should be bagged or placed in cans not exceeding 50 pounds. Bagged yard waste should be placed curbside. Branches should be placed curbside in bundles measuring no more than 4′ x 4′ x 4′ and under 50 pounds. Limit 8 bundles per service day.
Heavy Trash and Bulk – Curbside Pickup
  • Texas Pride Disposal will collect two heavy trash/bulk items per service day. Items include furniture, appliances, carpeting (tied and bundled), fencing (nails removed, tied and bundled under 4′ in length), and other items not disposed of regularly. Items should be curbside.
Items Excluded from Regular Collection
  • The following items cannot be collected: dirt, rocks, brick, concrete, liquid paints, fuels, oils, tires, pesticides, fertilizer, and batteries. Please contact Texas Pride Disposal to discuss solutions for proper disposal of these items.

Holidays

In the event that your service day falls on a holiday, collection will roll to the next regularly scheduled collection day.

Texas Pride Disposal reserves the right to add, delete or change holidays; and will notify residents of any such alteration to the holidays at least thirty (30) days in advance.
